Video Player Editor · last updated

1. Summary

Video Player Editor (“the app”) is a video player and editing toolbox published by Cool App Helpdesk. It trims, compresses, converts, merges, captions and changes the speed of videos, records video with the camera, adds voice-overs and music, makes slideshows from your photos, and extracts audio and images.

2. Data we collect

The app does not collect personal data in the background. The developer receives data only when you actively send it:

DataWhenPurpose
Feedback: message type, subject and message; your email address if you choose to enter it; the tool you asked about; app version; device model; Android versionOnly when you tap Send in Send feedback or a tool’s Help screenTo answer you and fix problems
Theme vote: the colour theme you picked, light or dark mode, app version and app languageOnly when you tap a Vote button in the “Which look do you like best?” surveyTo choose the look new users start with

The theme vote contains no device model, no identifier and no contact details. Neither feedback nor votes include your videos, photos, recordings or file names.

3. Data stored on your device

Your media and everything you make remain on your device. Nothing leaves it unless you explicitly share or save a file somewhere yourself.

4. Permissions used

The app requests no storage, contacts or location permissions. Files are opened and saved through Android’s Storage Access Framework, which grants access only to the files you pick. Camera and microphone are optional: every other feature works without them.

PermissionReasonWhen asked
CAMERARecord video with the built-in recorderThe first time you open the recorder
RECORD_AUDIOSound for camera recordings, and voice-overs recorded while a video playsThe first time you record
POST_NOTIFICATIONSShow export progress, with a Cancel button, while you use other appsBefore your first export (Android 13+); exports work either way
FOREGROUND_SERVICE + FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNCKeep long exports running reliably in the backgroundAuto-granted; used while an export runs
INTERNET + ACCESS_NETWORK_STATESend feedback and theme votes you choose to send; advertising if it is switched on in futureAuto-granted (normal permission)

5. Network activity and third parties

Playing, editing, recording, converting and making slideshows all work fully offline. The app connects to the internet only in these cases:

The app contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no social or attribution SDKs. Its media libraries (Media3, CameraX, FFmpegKit) run entirely on-device and do not transmit data.

When you share a file through the system share sheet, the app hands a local file to the app you choose. The developer does not see what you share.

6. Children’s privacy

The app is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data retention and deletion

Everything on your device remains there until you delete it in the app, clear the app’s storage in Android Settings → Apps → Video Player Editor → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Finished task history is removed automatically after the period chosen in Settings → Task history. Files you saved to a folder of your own choosing stay there until you delete them.

Feedback messages are kept only as long as needed to answer and act on them. Theme votes are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you. To have feedback you sent deleted, email the address below.

8. Security

App data is held in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s built-in application sandboxing. Feedback and votes are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. The app is distributed through the Google Play Store, which verifies the developer signing key on every update.

9. Changes to this policy

If any material aspect of how the app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above will be bumped. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
