1. Summary
Radio España (“the app”) is a free radio streaming application that lets you listen to 54 Spanish radio stations live. It is published by Cool App Helpdesk.
- The developer collects no personal data beyond what you voluntarily submit through the optional feedback form. There are no user accounts and no developer-operated servers that collect telemetry or analytics.
- All feedback you send (subject, message, and optional contact info) is transmitted to a Cloud Run endpoint and used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is not used for profiling, advertising, or any other purpose.
- The app includes the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK. Ads are dormant until 1 March 2027 — before that date the SDK is never initialised, loads nothing, and makes no network calls. From that date onward the app shows ads, and Google receives your device’s advertising ID. See section 5.
- There are no analytics, crash-reporting, social or attribution SDKs.
2. Data we collect
Minimal and only what you choose to share. The developer does not collect personal data, telemetry, device information, IP addresses, or usage analytics, and there are no user accounts. Nothing you listen to is reported to us.
Advertising. Once ads activate on 1 March 2027, Google’s AdMob SDK collects your device’s advertising ID and coarse ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads. This goes to Google, not to the developer, and is governed by Google’s privacy policy. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Before that date the SDK is inert and no advertising ID is read.
The only data transmitted to a developer-operated server is what you type into the feedback form: a subject (optional), a message (required), and a contact email or phone (optional). This feedback is sent to a Cloud Run endpoint for the sole purpose of receiving your comments and responding if you provided contact information.
If you report a non-working station from the player, the app sends an auto-generated bug report that includes the station name, ID, stream URL, device model, and Android version. This data is used only to diagnose and fix broken station streams.
3. Data stored on your device
| Item | Where | Sent off device? |
|---|---|---|
| Station list (loaded from local JSON on first launch) | Local Room database | Never |
| Favorite stations | Local Room database | Never |
| Disabled (non-working) stations | Local Room database | Never |
| UI language preference | App-private DataStore | Never |
| Theme preference (light/dark) | App-private DataStore | Never |
| Listening counts and last-played time | Local Room database | Never |
| Gallery layout and sort preferences | App-private preferences | Never |
| Audio you record from a stream | App-private storage (filesDir/recordings/) | Never |
| Feedback form data (subject, message, contact) | In-memory during composition | Sent when you tap send |
4. Permissions used
| Permission | Reason | When asked |
|---|---|---|
INTERNET | Stream radio audio from station URLs and send feedback. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Detect network connectivity to show appropriate error messages. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE | Keep playing audio when the app is in the background. | Auto-granted on install |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK | Declares the foreground service type as media playback (Android 14+). | Auto-granted on install |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) | Show the media playback notification with transport controls. | First time playback starts |
VIBRATE | Short haptic tick on swipe gestures in the gallery and player. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS | Apply the in-app equalizer and volume boost to the audio session. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
WAKE_LOCK | Keep the device awake while a stream is playing or recording so playback is not interrupted. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Re-arm any recordings you scheduled, which a reboot would otherwise clear. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Let the AdMob SDK read the device advertising ID to serve and measure ads. Reset or delete it in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS | Let you exempt the app from battery optimisation so aggressive power management does not kill background playback. Entirely optional and only fired when you tap the warning icon. | Only when you choose to allow it |
You can revoke POST_NOTIFICATIONS at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Radio España → Permissions.
The manifest also carries ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION and ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS, which the Google Mobile Ads SDK merges in for Android’s Privacy Sandbox, and DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION, an internal AndroidX signature permission that lets the app talk only to its own components. None of them are requested from you and none grant access to anything on your device.
5. Network activity and third parties
Radio España makes network connections to the following endpoints:
- Radio station stream URLs — Direct connections to radio broadcasters’ streaming servers (HTTP/HTTPS). The content is provided and controlled by the respective broadcasters. The developer has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content or privacy practices of these third-party streaming servers.
- Station artwork images — Loaded from remote URLs via Coil image loader. These images are hosted on third-party CDNs controlled by the broadcasters or station directory services.
- Feedback API — POST requests to a Cloud Run endpoint hosted at
requests-847893873240.europe-west1.run.app. This is the developer’s own endpoint, used solely to receive user feedback and station reports. - Station list API — A Retrofit GET call to fetch the station list on launch. If the server is unreachable, the app falls back to a local bundled station list.
- Station catalogue and directory — Requests to the developer’s own Cloudflare Worker at
radio-catalogs-api.daoudzd.workers.dev, which serves the optional “Add stations” directory and any catalogue stations. These requests carry no identifier for you or your device — only a signature proving the request came from the app. - Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — From 1 March 2027 the app requests ads from Google’s ad servers. Google receives the advertising ID, coarse device and network information, and ad interaction events. Before that date the SDK is never initialised and contacts nothing.
Apart from the AdMob SDK described above, the app contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no social or attribution SDKs. All other third-party libraries used (Media3 ExoPlayer, Retrofit, OkHttp, Coil, Room) operate strictly within the scope described above and do not transmit data to the developer or to third parties beyond what is explicitly described.
6. Children’s privacy
Radio España is a general-interest radio streaming app. It is not directed at children under 13, but we recognize that minors may use it. The developer collects no personal information from any user, regardless of age, beyond what is voluntarily submitted in the feedback form.
The app contains no behavioural profiling by the developer and no in-app purchases. From 1 March 2027 it displays ads served by Google AdMob; these are not personalised for users Google identifies as children, and where the EU consent framework applies the app presents a consent prompt before any personalised ad is served.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because the developer collects nothing beyond feedback submissions, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end beyond what is necessary to respond to your inquiry. Feedback submissions are kept only as long as needed to address the reported issue.
To remove locally stored data (favorites, disabled stations, recordings, preferences), clear the app’s storage in Android Settings → Apps → Radio España → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app.
Data transmitted to third-party streaming servers and CDNs is governed by those parties’ own privacy policies. The developer has no control over and is not responsible for their data practices.
8. Security
The app stores preferences and cached station data in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s built-in application sandboxing. Network requests to the feedback API are made over HTTPS. The app is distributed through the Google Play Store, which verifies the developer signing key on every update.
9. Changes to this policy
If any material aspect of how the app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above will be bumped. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
