1. Summary
Dual Shot (“the app”, listed on Google Play as Dual Shot: Vertical + Wide) is a video camera published by Cool App Helpdesk. It records one take and saves it in several formats at once — for example a vertical 9:16 file and a horizontal 16:9 file — and lets you review, trim and share them.
- Video and sound are recorded and processed entirely on your device. Nothing is ever uploaded.
- The camera and microphone are used only while the camera screen is open. Recording stops when you leave the app.
- The developer receives no data from the app. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking.
- The app includes the Google AdMob SDK for one banner on the Library screen, but advertising is switched off until September 1, 2027: until then the SDK is never started, no ad is requested and the advertising ID is not read. See section 5.
2. Data we collect
None. The developer receives no data from the app — no videos, no sound, no usage statistics, no identifiers, no crash reports.
From September 1, 2027, the advertising SDK described in section 5 may collect some device data for Google to serve ads. That data goes to Google, not to the developer.
3. Data stored on your device
Everything the app makes stays on your device. It leaves only if you share a file yourself.
| Item | Where | Sent off device? |
|---|---|---|
| Recorded videos (one file per format) | Your device’s shared video folder, Movies/Dual Shot, where your gallery and editors can see them | Only if you share |
| Take details (which files belong to a take, duration, markers) | Small files in the app’s private storage | Never |
| Settings (camera, formats, resolution, frame rate, codec, quality, microphone on/off, guides) | The app’s private storage | Never |
| What the phone’s camera and video encoder can do (read once to plan your takes) | In memory | Never |
If you have turned on Android backup, Android may include the app’s settings in your own Google backup. That backup is managed by Android under your Google account; the developer has no access to it.
4. Permissions used
The app requests no contacts, location or phone permissions.
| Permission | Reason | When asked |
|---|---|---|
CAMERA | Film your takes | When you first open the camera, after an explanation |
RECORD_AUDIO | Record sound with your takes. Video without sound works without it, and the microphone can be switched off in Settings | The first time you record with the microphone on |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Android 8 and 9 only: save your videos to Movies/Dual Shot. Newer Android versions need no storage permission for this | On Android 8–9, before the first recording |
INTERNET + ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Advertising only (the Library banner), from September 1, 2027. Recording, review, trimming and sharing never use the network | Auto-granted (normal permissions) |
AD_ID (advertising ID) | Lets the AdMob SDK read the advertising ID once ads are on. Not read before September 1, 2027. You can reset or delete it in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads | Auto-granted (normal permission) |
5. Network activity and third parties
Recording, review, trimming and sharing work fully offline. Your videos and sound are never uploaded. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, social or attribution SDKs.
- Google AdMob (advertising) is included for a single banner at the bottom of the Library screen — never on the camera or while you film. Until September 1, 2027 it is switched off: the SDK is never initialized, makes no network requests and reads no advertising ID. From that date the banner appears without an app update, and AdMob may collect the advertising ID, device information (model, Android version, language), approximate location derived from the IP address, and ad interactions, to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, under Google’s Privacy Policy (how Google uses data from partner apps). AdMob never receives your videos, sound or files.
When you tap Share or Send to… (for example to YouTube or Instagram), the app hands the file you picked to the app you chose through Android. From then on that app’s own privacy policy applies. The developer never sees what you share.
6. Children’s privacy
The app is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your videos stay in Movies/Dual Shot until you delete them — in the app (Discard on a take) or with any gallery or file manager. Uninstalling the app does not delete the videos already saved there, so you keep your work.
Take details and settings are removed when you clear the app’s storage in Android Settings → Apps → Dual Shot → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Since the developer holds no data about you, there is nothing for the developer to delete. Data collected by AdMob (from September 1, 2027) is handled by Google; you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
8. Security
App data is held in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s application sandboxing. Your videos are saved through Android’s MediaStore like any camera app’s. The app is distributed through Google Play, which verifies the developer’s signing key on every update.
9. Changes to this policy
If any material aspect of how the app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated first and the “last updated” date above will change. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
