API Monitor · last updated
1. Summary
API Monitor (“the app”) is a utility for monitoring HTTP endpoints. It is published by Cool App Helpdesk.
- The app collects no personal data and operates no servers.
- The app makes HTTP requests only to the URLs you configure, on the schedule you set.
- All configuration and history is stored locally on your device. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no crash-reporting SDKs.
2. Data we collect
None. API Monitor does not collect personal data, telemetry, identifiers, device information, IP addresses, or usage analytics. There are no user accounts and the developer operates no servers that the app communicates with.
3. Data stored on your device
| Item | Where | Sent off device? |
|---|---|---|
| API endpoints you add | Local Room database | Requested only by your device, only at the URL you configured |
| Headers and auth tokens you save | Local Room database | Sent only to the URL you configured |
| Status and response logs | Local Room database | Never |
| App preferences | Local DataStore | Never |
Local data is excluded from Android cloud backups.
4. Permissions used
| Permission | Reason |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Send requests to the API endpoints you configure. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Skip checks when the device has no network. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) | Notify you when a monitored endpoint changes state. Revocable in system settings. |
WAKE_LOCK / FOREGROUND_SERVICE | Used by Android WorkManager to run scheduled checks reliably. |
5. Network activity and third parties
The app makes network requests only to the URLs you add yourself. Those destinations are operated by you or by the services you choose; the developer has no relationship with them and receives none of the data. The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
6. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
7. Data retention and deletion
Delete an endpoint inside the app to stop monitoring it and remove its history. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. Notification permission can be revoked in your device settings at any time.
8. Security
All data managed by the app is stored in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s built-in application sandboxing. We recommend using https:// URLs for the endpoints you monitor to encrypt requests in transit. The app is distributed through the Google Play Store, which verifies the developer signing key on every update.
9. Changes to this policy
If any material aspect of how the app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above will be bumped. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
